DM Jewish Family Services Helps 84 Year Old Community Member Stay in Iowa

An 84 year old female community member, who lives alone, had been falling in her apartment many times.  Her children were concerned that their Mom would fall and no one would be there to help her and so were considering moving her to live with one of them out of state.  This would mean away from friends, synagogue, etc.  The client was very upset, she did not want to move.  So, JFS discussed the situation with the children and it was decided that Lifeline would be installed in the client's home.  The children were happy to be informed of the service and felt their mom would be much safer as it would provide a much more secure environment.  So, OASIS (a program of JFS), provided the finances to have Lifeline installed and the children will provide the monthly payments!  The client is delighted that she can stay in her apartment and doesn't have to move!

Jewish Family Services is able to help over 300 seniors a year because of your generous contributions to the Federation's All-in-One Campaign.
