Visit the Museum

Visitors of all ages and backgrounds can learn about Iowa’s Jewish heritage in our museum located in the Bucksbaum Arts Wing of The Caspe Terrace. Free parking is available on site. The museum is free of charge and accessible to visitors with disabilities. We are also a Blue Star Museum, welcoming military personnel and family members at no cost.

Schedule a Visit

Visitors are always welcome at the Iowa Jewish Historical Society. Appointments can be made by calling (515) 987-0899 ext. 216 or emailing ijhs@jewishdesmoines.org. Reservations are required for groups of 10 or more and must be made in advance.

With a school in the complex, the doors of all the buildings are secured. Please call us and a staff member will meet you at the door.

The Iowa Jewish Historical Society is located in The Caspe Terrace Complex of the Jewish Federation of Greater Des Moines. Our address is 33158 Ute Avenue in Waukee, IA.

From Interstate 80, take Exit 117 and turn south onto Ute Avenue. The Caspe Terrace is about a quarter-mile down the road on the left. Follow the road to the Caspe Terrace Complex. The museum is in the Bucksbaum Arts Wing on the east end of the building.
