Jewish Family Services

Jewish Family Services (JFS) exists to support and strengthen Central Iowa Jewish families. Throughout our history, we have supported community members from near and far, through the highs and the lows. Our approach has always sought to preserve dignity and enrich the quality of life while celebrating Jewish identity, promoting Jewish traditions and fostering fellowship.

Our Approach

We are guided by our belief in Tikkun Olam and want all Jewish families to feel cared for by:

  • Treating all people with respect and compassion
  • Partnering with others to broaden the reach and the positive impact of Jews in the community
  • Providing culturally-relevant and appropriate assistive services
  • Helping Jewish seniors and families, however defined, to help themselves

Based on these values, Jewish Family Services provides outreach, educational and senior adult services, as well as financial assistance.

How We Help

Outreach

With a special focus on food insecurity, we support the larger community in Central Iowa through outreach activities and interfaith collaborations.

Senior Adult Services

We empower Jewish seniors to live independently in their homes by serving as a resource for families and offering senior services that keep them safe, supported and connected.

PJ Library

Jewish families with children up to 11 years old can receive free, faith-based books, music and more each month through the PJ Library and PJ Our Way programs.

Tzedakah

For Jewish community members most in need, we’re able to provide financial assistance and loving support to help address critical expenses and life events.
